The goals of FRRCW are to remove non-native vegetation and trash from creeks, lead tours, plant native plants, and provide outreach & education to the public. In this introduction to the group, participants will learn how to help create healthier watersheds in Northwestern Contra Costa County and throughout our region.  Friends of Rodeo, Refugio, and Carquinez Watersheds is a joint collaboration between the Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center (CREEC) and the Muir Heritage Land Trust.

The Muir Heritage Land Trust has been working to acquire lands and land preservation agreements since 1988.  With members from all over the Bay Area, the trust focuses on the preservation of natural areas and environmental education throughout Contra Costa County, including the communities of Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Martinez, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, Rodeo and San Pablo.  Since its founding, the Muir Heritage Land Trust has protected over 2000 acres for people to enjoy through recreational opportunities that include wildlife observation, hiking, horse back riding and environmental education.  The Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center (CREEC) has been involved in environmental restoration and education in the Carquinez Strait region since 1995. CREEC promotes protection, restoration, and improvement of the natural environment, watersheds and quality of water entering the Carquinez Strait by providing key services and support for habitat restoration, native plants as well as herbicide and pesticide-free gardening. CREEC currently operates two sites in Crockett, Ca. for the propagation of native and pollinator plants: The Community Greenhouse, 1300 Crockett Blvd. and The Carquinez Horticultural Center at Dowrelio Drive on the Crockett waterfront, operated primarily by the CREEC Youth Group, a vocational environmental education program for youth 14 to 18 years old.  The Muir Heritage Land Trust and Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center depend on the support and generosity of individuals, foundations, public agencies, and businesses to achieve their missions of preservation and enhancement of our community’s natural heritage and resources
